Little Monkey Turns One

Well, Carson's Monkey Birthday Party was a hit. My sister has the hardest time trying to find a theme for both of her boys' birthdays. She doesn't like most of the store bought character party stuff. So that means we have to come up with something. So we decided to go with a monkey theme in lime green, yellow, brown and orange. Once that was decided it was easy to put together. The first thing was to find invitations. Since it took so long for us to decide on a theme, we needed invitations fast. Luckly I found these cute ones at Target. We just added an insert since it didn't give enough room on the invite.

One thing my sister wanted to do was have a candy bar so when the kids left the party they could make their own goody bag. Candy bars can get expensive, but we managed this one pretty reasonably. We used containers from my house, my mom's house and sister's house. We bought most of the candy from Costco. I made the labels for each candy and the sign above the table. For the bags, I used a stamp from Stampin' Up and double sided tape. Throw in a table cloth and balloons and you have a pretty neat candy bar. The kids loved it!!

I made a banner using my Cricut. I got the ribbon and paper half off at Hobby Lobby. It cost me somewhere around $8.00, and I still have ribbon and paper left over.

We used cupcakes instead of a cake. I think it works better for younger kids. The cupcakes turned out too cute!! They were made using, M&Ms for the eyes, Ginger Snaps for the mouth, and Oreos for the ears.

For Carson's cake, my talented sis made him a little monky cake of his own. She used a Runt candy for the banana.

For the adults she made banana pudding and topped them off with a banana Runt candy.

My sis also thought of this idea of using a Barrel of Monkies to hold the spoons. She decorated the dessert table with the monkies.

He was such a sweet boy trying to share his cake with me.

Opening one of his many gifts. Well, Jase (big brother) actually opened most of them. He didn't quite understand it was Carson's party, not his. :)

One of my sister's college friends came and brought her son Carter.  He will be celebrating his 1st birthday soon. He was the perfect little party guest.

And that's how this little monkey turned one!!
